Fundamentalist religions are rife with sexual predators.  Somehow, sexual abusers intuit or intentionally use a mindset that takes advantage of people’s vulnerability and desire for love for their own purposes.  I’m not saying secular institutions don’t have these problems.  Obviously many do.  But the fundy roadmap to initially get people in the pews and then make them feel never good enough can also get people into bedrooms, darkened hallways, secluded chambers, showers, etc.

If there were diagrams, they might look something like these.

1.  Head of a fundamentalist denomination → potential adherent
Love bombing → sin → self loathing

2.  Sexually abusive head of a fundamentalist denomination → target in denomination
Love bombing → sexual assault → sin → self loathing

3.  Sexually abusive fundamentalist parishioner → female spouse
Love bombing → cultural coercion → marital rape → sin → self loathing

4.  Sexually abusive parishoner → child
Love bombing/grooming → sexual assault → sin → self loathing
