Heterosexism and Out Communities

Why are so many girls bisexual nowadays?

Do you mean why can you observe women that identify as bisexual, pansexual, gay, and a myriad of other sexual identities when you previously didn’t?

Just a guess here, but maybe women that identify that way now feel comfortable enough and supported enough by communities they belong to, they established, and that support them to identify that way publicly.

Then again, maybe conservatives will get their way and force them back into the closet. You won’t publicly see them anymore, but they’ll still be there. Enforced heterosexuality kind of works that way, don’t you think?

Hopefully we won’t backslide on human rights, regardless of the American presidential and congressional elections. True story: the other day, one of my work colleagues was having a discussion with another person about their spouses and children. Nothing out of the ordinary, correct? My work colleague is a man married to another man and he was talking with a woman about her wife and kids. I couldn’t help but smile about that. Those rights were achieved in America by the QUILTBAG community under the “pinko, hippie, communist conspiracy” that was the Obama presidency.

Thank goodness.
