Toxic Masculinity: It’s a real thing.

What separates men from boys?

Precious little, actually.

Do you mean what’s the difference between a self-possessed yet socially cognizant mature individual and an immature one?

It certainly isn’t age. Some of the kindest, most caring, and most considerate boys are light years ahead of their publicly macho, egotistical yet insecure “adult” male counterparts in terms of compassion, understanding, and empathy.

And yet the inconsiderate, abusive, loud, brash, unpleasant “adult” man will often be celebrated for what he should be ashamed of while the compassionate boy will routinely have that beaten out of him by his peers and elders.

Go figure.

And can we retire that shitty phrase?  Thanks.
