Rethought my initial answer to this.

I never felt sexual attraction towards people but once in a while I dream with fictional characters I like and I feel like I want to do sexual stuff with them.  Does that means I’m demisexual instead of asexual?

I had what I thought was a definitive answer, but now I have to change it based on the AVENwiki definition.

A demisexual is a person who does not experience sexual attraction unless they form a emotional connection. It’s more commonly seen in, but by no means confined, to romantic relationships.

I guess you could form an emotional connection with fictional characters, but I think the definition was meant to apply to flesh and blood real people you can meet.

The AVENwiki definition further goes on to say that demisexuals “experience secondary sexual attraction,” meaning they’re not choosing to delay acting on their primary sexual attraction until a romantic relationship develops. Demisexuals, the definition argues, don’t have a primary sexual attraction. If sexual attraction occurs, it develops from the emotional connection first.

If you think demisexuality fits you more than asexuality does, feel free to claim it.
