Do most women engage in hypergamy while dating, and does this apply to well-to-do women as well as working-class ladies?

I would really like to think the person asking this question is a legitimate social scientist investigating aspects of certain kinds of relationships.

But my strong suspicion is that they’re trying to dog whistle some MRA/MGTOW/incel nonsense past the rest of us.

To the genuine social scientist: time, place, culture, and individual situations in conjunction with the presence or lack of equal rights for women are starting points for you to investigate this phenomenon yourself.

To the member(s) of the three aforementioned and unfortunate communities: you know the answer you’re going to get (that you’re not going to listen to). It depends on the woman, the circumstance, and their dating objectives. You already know this doesn’t indicate anything about women as a whole.

Sorry you’re disappointed that women of any social status can tell you no. No evo psych nonsense is going to take the sting out of that.
